Opportunities and Constraints

The proposed scheme builds upon the previous environmental and transport assessment undertaken as part of the Southern Sector proposals and can readily integrate with the landscaping and sustainable drainage strategy and an extension of the roads, footpaths and cycleways that link into and through the developing neighbourhood and beyond.

Careful consideration needs to be taken to respect and enhance the relationship to the National Park to the north, the Castle Goring conservation area to the west and the listed buildings around the northern boundary.

Care needs to be taken to consider the existing important hedgerows and trees and to consider the visual relationship to the boundaries looking in and to identify and build into the masterplan key views and vistas.

The development of the Northern Sector has the opportunity to create an outward looking development with family housing, green infrastructure, sustainable drainage, linkages to the wider area and a central focal point.
